Dr. de Silva has over 35 years’ experience in the Telecommunications industry including international projects for the United Nations as a Senior Export in over 40 countries. Dr de Silva has held senior strategic consultancy roles for major telecom groups across the globe and has done extensive strategy and planning consultancies with major carriers and governments across South-East Asia.
Dr. de Silva is currently leading the ASEAN broadband initiatives for the governments of the 10 ASEAN member countries. He is also the Managing Director of Telsoft Pty Ltd.
Dr. de Silva owns properties in the rural town of Boorowa NSW and has been operating sheep, cattle and cropping enterprises for over 30 years. Dr. de Silva is a founding director of Wool Connect, a group of wool growers who have been pioneering adding value to the wool produced and marketing higher up the value chain.
Dr. de Silva is a thought leader in understanding the new value chains in Digital and Precision Agriculture and the use of Software-Defined Networks. He is currently conducting research into the use of Blockchain in Agriculture in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Australian Research Council.
